A humorous scene caught on camera has sparked lively discussion online after a netizen shared images of an electric wheelchair user with a "L" (learner) plate hanging on the back of his chair.
The original poster uploaded photos and a video to Threads, jokingly writing: "Where is my dude taking driving lessons?" The post quickly drew a flood of comments.
In the footage, the man's electric wheelchair can be seen with two bags hanging from the sides, while a large learner plate is conspicuously attached to the centre of the backrest.
The post prompted a wave of playful remarks from netizens. Comments included: "Even wheelchairs need a licence now," "Turned left without signalling — fail," "He cut across the single yellow line (tactile paving)," "That's hilarious," "He needs to stop if someone runs out in front of him," and "No rear lights — vehicle fails inspection, tow it away!"
However, some users offered more serious explanations. One wrote: "That's plate No. 15 – it stands for 'invalid carriage'. You really do need a licence for that." Another added: "A close friend of mine has a 'P' plate on his wheelchair. Whenever we go to a restaurant, he asks the staff for a parking ticket – they never know how to respond." Other netizens also noted that they have seen electric wheelchairs displaying "P" plates before.
