The 4th Hong Kong hometown market carnival was officially launched yesterday (June 3) at Victoria Park. This year's carnival is jointly organized by 30 Hong Kong provincial-level hometown associations, with more than 370 booths in total, making it the largest scale among all previous editions. On-site, the reporter visited different booths and found they had rolled out multiple benefits for visitors.
Before the booth of the Fraternity Association of HK Henan, a wide variety of goods were on display, including instant rice noodles with sesame paste flavor, and well-known local brands such as "Hao Xiang Ni" jujubes, as well as pitted hawthorn. Vice Chairman of the association, Ryan Chuk, said the business groups from 15 local areas in Henan participated in this carnival, with more than 200 types of products on offer, nearly double the number compared with previous years.
Ryan emphasized that the products are very affordable. "Maybe people usually can't buy at such low prices online," he said. He warmly invited residents to "try our flavors and pick up Henan specialty products."
The Federation of Hong Kong Beijing Organisations has participated the carnival for four years. Benefiting from the more spacious layout, the association added two extra stalls with richer content.
Notably, this year's carnival is featuring hometown associations that participate not only as cities at the prefecture-level, but in others. Changle is located in Fuzhou City, the capital of Fujian Province. In past editions, the planning of carnival is mostly organized by "province" units. This year, Changle decided to "take the initiative" to present itself as a single booth, searching for more opportunities.
