The "Kerry Fencing World Championships 2026 Hong Kong, China" will be held at the AsiaWorld-Expo from July 22 to July 30. The tournament is regarded as a leading fencing competition outside the Olympics, and will be hosted in Hong Kong for the first time in history.
Tickets will go on sale online via Klook starting June 9 (next Tuesday). Prices range from HK$250 to HK$1,500.
Scheduled to run for nine days, the event is expected to attract more than 1,000 world-class fencers from over 100 countries and regions. Among the various events, men's foil is expected to draw particular attention from HK audiences.
In terms of the schedule, the men's individual foil competition will be held on July 25, while the team event will take place on July 28. At the last World Championships, Ryan Choi Chun-yin, the gold medallist in the men's individual foil, will seek to defend his title with home advantage. Edgar Cheung Ka-long, a two-time Olympic champion, will also pursue the men's World Championships gold medal, the only major missing from his professional "grand slam."
Beyond individual honours, the in-form HK men's foil squad is also aiming for a medal in the team event.
Since January this year, HK's team has made history by winning team-event medals in Paris, Cairo, and Istanbul, achieving consecutive podium finishes. Both Choi and Cheung said they hope, with support from home spectators, to lead the team to go beyond its limits and build on the historic result of winning bronze at the 2023 World Championships.
