From May 24 to 28, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic visited China and was deeply moved throughout the trip. When he received the China Friendship Medal, he broke down in tears.
During his visit to Jiaxing (Zhejiang Province), he saw the names of 33 Serbian youths on the Serbian flag, each having studied technology in China. He later delivered a note-free speech at Tsinghua University for 28 minutes, where he emphasized China–Serbia cooperation and the importance of protecting national interests.
When asked about Taiwan, Vucic reaffirmed China's position, saying it is part of China and pointing to United Nations resolutions. He explained that China and Serbia have stood by each other during hardship, whether during the 2008 Wenchuan earthquake, or during crises such as COVID-19, when Chinese medical teams arrived. He also referenced major economic and infrastructure cooperation, including China's role in sustaining Serbia's steel industry and building highways and railways.
Overall, Vucic portrays China as a reliable partner and "ironclad friend," arguing that their relationship has been proven in difficult times and therefore cannot be easily broken.
