A video circulating online shows that at approximately 2:34 pm the day before yesterday (May 30), a seven-seater vehicle and an SUV were traveling along Sai Sha Road towards Wu Kai Sha in the second right lane and first right lane, respectively. When they reached the roundabout at Hang Fai Street, the SUV, which was behind, entered the slip road. However, instead of turning, it drove straight towards the central stone barrier. It first hit a yellow road marker, then mounted the barrier and became airborne. Upon landing, the left side of the SUV violently crashed into the right side of the seven-seater, knocking it aside. After being hit, the seven-seater driver immediately braked to a stop, while the SUV continued moving forward for some distance before stopping at the roadside.
The footage has sparked heated discussions online, with netizens leaving comments such as, "I'd think this was a movie scene if you didn't tell me otherwise," "Mario Kart?," "Successfully overtook," "This is like a sequel to Thunderbolt," "Even a movie might not achieve this effect," "Done in one take, no NG needed," "Successfully cleared the hurdle," and "Very police story vibe."
Other netizens criticised the SUV driver's driving attitude, saying, "Road bomb," "I really don't understand people who'd rather crash than miss a turn," "This kind of person is dangerous — if this happened in a busy area and they mounted the pavement, who knows how many people they'd kill. Their license should be revoked for life."
Fortunately, both the 58-year-old male driver of the SUV and the 50-year-old male driver of the seven-seater were uninjured. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
