According to China Daily, Chinese airlines will lower fuel surcharges on domestic routes from June 5 for tickets issued on or after that date, as cited in notices by travel platform Qunar and aviation data intelligence platform VariFlight on Friday (May 29).
Under the adjustment, adult passengers will pay a fuel surcharge of RMB 150 on routes longer than 800 km and RMB 80 on routes of 800 km or less, down by RMB 20 and RMB 10, respectively, from current levels.
The move marks the third adjustment to domestic fuel surcharges this year and the first reduction in 2026. Airlines previously raised fees on April 5 and May 16, with surcharges on routes of 800 km or less climbing from RMB 10 to RMB 90, while those on longer routes rose from RMB 20 to RMB 170.
