The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) has released its Global Talent Trends Survey 2026, exploring how finance professionals are responding to the rapidly changing work environment. The survey reveals that respondents in Hong Kong are increasingly worried about the rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), with particular concerns over recruitment processes, job stability, and the over-reliance on AI by junior staff.

Respondents observed a noticeable reduction in headcounts within companies, as traditional, routine, or repetitive tasks are gradually being replaced by technology or outsourced to lower-cost regions. 28% of Hong Kong respondents indicated that they feel insecure in their current positions due to two major structural shifts in the job market: the relocation of regional headquarters of multinational corporations and the rapid proliferation of AI.

Wilson Cheng, Chair of ACCA Hong Kong, said that as the report highlights, AI brings both opportunities and tangible risks. While the application of AI has become an unstoppable trend and is already deeply embedded in the workplace, finance professionals should review, question, and verify AI-generated outputs rather than treating AI as a tool to replace personal judgment.
