According to media reports, Public Health Agency of Canada confirmed on May 17 that a passenger from the cruise ship "Hondius," who is currently in quarantine in British Columbia, has tested positive for hantavirus. To date, the World Health Organization (WHO) maintains its assessment of the Hantavirus outbreak as "low risk."
It is reported that the Canadian patient developed mild symptoms such as fever and headache three days ago and was subsequently admitted to the hospital. The patient tested positive for Hantavirus in a preliminary test on May 15 and was reported as a suspected case by the British Columbia Health Department on May 16. The patient is currently undergoing treatment in isolation, and the patient's partner has tested negative.
