According to US media reports, at noon local time on May 17, during an air show at Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho, two US Navy fighter jets collided in mid-air and crashed; all four crew members ejected safely.
Reports indicate that the mid-air collision involved two EA-18G Growler Electronic Warfare aircraft. The cause of the accident is under investigation. No casualties have been reported. The fire caused by the accident is still burning.
It is understood that the incident occurred on the second day of the "Gunfighter Skies" Air show. According to the organizers, the air show featured flight demonstrations and skydiving events, aimed at celebrating aviation history and showcasing modern military capabilities. The US Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron "Thunderbirds" was scheduled to be the headliner of the air show. Following the accident, Mountain Home Air Force Base has been placed on lockdown. According to the weather service, visibility was good at the time of the incident, with wind gusts reaching approximately 47 kilometers per hour.
