A fire broke out in Taichung today (May 13), after a building under construction in the city's Beitun District caught fire, sending massive flames and thick black smoke soaring into the sky.
According to Taichung's fire department, authorities received reports of the blaze earlier in the day. Firefighters said the fire started in the second basement level of the unfinished structure, where plastic pallets were burning.
The fire spread intensely, producing heavy smoke across the area. Authorities said preliminary assessments indicated that no people were trapped inside the site.
Firefighters continue to battle the blaze, while the cause of the fire remains under investigation.
