The Hong Kong Observatory said today (May 13) that a southerly airstream is affecting the coast of Guangdong. Meanwhile, an anticyclone aloft is bringing generally fine weather to the region and the northern part of the South China Sea. At 5 am, Tropical Depression Hagupit was centred about 870 kilometres east of Manila and is expected to move slowly, lingering in the waters east of the Philippines.

The Observatory forecasts that the weather in Hong Kong today will be sunny for part of the day. It will be hot during the daytime, with a maximum temperature of about 32 degrees Celsius. There will be a few showers later. Light to moderate south to southwest winds are expected. Looking ahead, there will be showers and thunderstorms on Thursday and Friday, with occasionally heavy rain. The weather will remain unsettled with fairly strong winds over the weekend.
