In the afternoon of May 10, on Japan's Tokaido Line of JR, an unknown spray was released on a train. Several passengers noticed a strong, pungent smell, and three of them developed symptoms such as sore throat and were then taken to the hospital.
Due to the incident, services on the Tokaido Line were suspended for about 2.5 hours, affecting around 1,200 people. According to reports in Japanese media today (May 12), local police have arrested a 16-year-old boy, suspected of spraying an unknown liquid and disrupting train operations.
The person arrested is a 16-year-old boy from Ota City, Tokyo. At the time of the incident, he was travelling with several friends. During questioning, he admitted to the offence. Police are investigating the following details.
