At the invitation of Chinese President Xi Jinping, US President Donald Trump will pay a state visit to China from May 13 to 15.
Bloomberg reported on Monday (May 11), citing a Washington official, that the White House has invited several top corporate executives to join Trump on the trip, including Elon Musk, chief executive of Tesla; Tim Cook, chief executive of Apple; and Kelly Ortberg, chief executive of Boeing.
The report also said that executives expected to join Trump's delegation include David Solomon, CEO of Goldman Sachs; Stephen Schwarzman, CEO of Blackstone; Larry Fink, CEO of BlackRock; Jane Fraser of Citigroup; and Dina Powell McCormick, president of Meta.
Other business representatives reportedly joining the delegation include Larry Culp, CEO of GE Aerospace; Brian Sikes, CEO of agricultural commodities giant Cargill; Sanjay Mehrotra, CEO of Micron Technology; and Cristiano Amon, CEO of Qualcomm.
However, Jensen Huang, CEO of AI chip giant Nvidia, was notably absent from the reported list.
According to the report, the delegation — which includes representatives from major financial, technology, aviation and agricultural firms — reflects Trump's intention to secure a series of trade and procurement agreements during the visit, as well as finalize details surrounding the establishment of a bilateral trade committee with China.
Musk's inclusion on the list was also seen as a sign of improving ties between the world's richest man and Trump.
On May 11, Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social that he was "very much looking forward" to the upcoming trip to China, calling the country "an amazing country."
