The launching ceremony for the 2026 "Chinese Stories, Our Voices" Hong Kong contest was held on Saturday (May 9).
In opening remarks, Xia Jing, executive president of the Hong Kong Culture and Arts Promotion and Exchange Association, noted that "Chinese Stories, Our Voices" aimed to guide young people to present a true and comprehensive China to the world through authentic, touching, and empathetic voices.
Xia emphasized that HK was an international metropolis where Chinese and Western cultures converge. Introducing this high-standard contest to HK not only achieved the cultural integration under the principle of "One Country, Two Systems," but also helped young people in the Greater Bay Area strengthen their cultural confidence.
"We hope this platform will enable students to polish their language skills and make every child a young ambassador of Chinese culture. Let the world hear the confident voice of HK youth," she said.
The contest sets 18 themes for participants, such as "Beautiful China," "China's Transport Power," "Rural Revitalization," "Healthy China," "Maritime Power," "Aerospace Power," "Talent Power," "The Belt and Road Initiative," "Cyber Power," "Science and Technology Power," "Sports Power," "Cultural Power," "Manufacturing Power," "Education Power," "Digital China," "Agricultural Power," "National Security," "Great Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation."
Students are encouraged to combine HK characteristics and explore the contemporary value of China's stories from an international perspective, rather than focusing solely on traditional history.
In his remarks, Gordon Lam, NPC Deputy from Hong Kong, stressed that young people should leverage HK's linguistic advantages to show the real China to the world.
