Hong Kong singer Hins Cheung will miss his scheduled performance tonight at the "25+ EEG Family Concert" after being diagnosed with acute labyrinthitis, according to a statement released by Emperor Entertainment Group today (May 4).
The two-day concert series kicked off yesterday at Kai Tak Stadium, featuring a star-studded lineup including Joey Yung, Leo Ku, Hacken Lee, Hins Cheung, Priscilla Chan, Twins, William Chan, Gin Lee, Kenny Kwan and Mike Tsang.
However, the organizer said Cheung experienced severe physical discomfort shortly after completing his performance last night. He was taken to the emergency department and was later diagnosed with acute labyrinthitis. As a result, his segment in tonight's show has been cancelled.
According to available medical information, acute labyrinthitis is an inflammation of the inner ear caused by viral or bacterial infection. It is clinically characterized by the sudden onset of intense vertigo, persistent tinnitus, hearing loss and impaired balance.
In rare cases, it may lead to permanent hearing damage. The condition is often accompanied by vomiting and nystagmus, and is commonly linked to upper respiratory infections. Symptoms can last from several days to a few weeks.
Treatment typically involves rest, anti-vertigo medication, corticosteroids, antiviral drugs or antibiotics.
