Hongkongers now have a new option for weekend trips north: Chayan Yuese officially returned to Shenzhen today (April 22), with both its Shenzhen Bay MixC location (near Houhai Metro Station) and MixC World location (near Gaoxinyuan Metro Station) opening simultaneously.
Some customers began lining up outside the Shenzhen MixC World as early as 4:30 am. After the store officially opened, the line stretched out onto the street. As of around 12:40 pm, 171 drinks were being prepared at the Shenzhen MixC World location, with an estimated wait time of 2 hours and 51 minutes. At the Shenzhen Bay MixC branch, as many as 300 drinks were being prepared, with orders estimated to take 5 hours to be ready. Due to the excessively long wait times, some customers who had already completed their refunds and were waiting said, "It's only been a little over five minutes, and I've already received my refund."
The overwhelming popularity has also given rise to a surge in scalping. Even before the store opened, social media platforms were flooded with posts from scalpers. Chayan Yuese drinks, originally priced at just over 10 yuan, were being sold by scalpers for as much as 100 yuan per cup—and that price didn't even include delivery fees, resulting in a staggering markup.
In response to this matter, Chayan Yuese stated that it has taken note of online reports regarding scalpers "recruiting people to queue" and "purchasing items at inflated prices." To ensure a positive consumer experience, the company has implemented a limit of two cups per person during the opening period to curb hoarding by scalpers.
