New Zealand extended their dominance in the women's game with a fourth consecutive title, while South Africa underlined their status as the season's standout side with a commanding victory in the men's final at the Hong Kong Sevens on Sunday night (April 19).
In the Women's Cup Final, New Zealand edged Australia 19–14 in a tightly contested trans-Tasman clash. The Black Ferns Sevens made a fast and clinical start, with Mahina Paul crossing for the opening try before Risi Pouri-Lane added the conversion. New Zealand struck again soon after with another converted try to build early control.
Australia responded through Isabella Nasser, with Tia Hinds adding the extras to narrow the deficit before halftime.
After the break, New Zealand added a crucial unconverted try, while Australia pushed back with a converted score in the closing stages.
The Men's Cup Final saw South Africa deliver a dominant performance to defeat Argentina 35–7. The Blitzboks imposed themselves early, with Tristan Leyds opening the scoring with a converted try. Argentina responded through Santino Zangara to briefly level the contest, but South Africa quickly regained control as Selvyn Davids crossed, with Leyds again converting.
In the second half, South Africa took full command, running in three consecutive converted tries while shutting out Argentina completely.
