Rising tension in the Middle East has triggered sharp fluctuations in international oil prices. Following announcements by Cathay Pacific and HK Express, Greater Bay Airlines' official website also shows that the airline will suspend scheduled flights to and from Bangkok from mid-May until the end of September, lasting more than four months. In addition, some flights to Taipei have been canceled.

According to the airline's website, flights to Bangkok for the period from May 11 to Sept. 30 can no longer be searched. Flights related to that period are only searchable starting Oct. 1. However, from Oct. 5 onward, departures to Bangkok still cannot be found in the search results, according to the information available on the website.

It is also understood that some flights to Taipei have been canceled. Other destinations, such as Tokyo and Osaka in Japan, currently still have a certain number of flights.

In response to media enquiries, Greater Bay Airlines said that due to continued increases in fuel prices and a constantly changing market environment, based on commercial considerations, it has made short-term adjustments to service on certain routes.

The company said it will proactively contact affected passengers and make appropriate arrangements to minimize inconvenience. Greater Bay Airlines also expressed sincere apologies to passengers affected.

Amid the rise in international oil prices, many airlines have canceled flights. The Consumer Council said that as of the morning of April 15, it had received 13 complaints related to flight cancellations due to increased fuel costs, involving a total amount of HK$20,878. Of these cases, four involved local consumers, totaling HK$14,557, with the largest single case amounting to about HK$5,600.
