According to a report by CCTV International News, citing Iranian media on the evening of April 8 local time, the Strait of Hormuz has been "completely closed," forcing oil tankers to turn back. The report indicated that Iran suspended oil tanker passage through the Strait of Hormuz following Israel's attack on Lebanon.

On April 8, the Iranian Ports and Maritime Organization released a safety route map for the Strait of Hormuz, informing vessels to adhere to navigational safety principles and avoid triggering mines. The organization stated that from Feb. 28 to April 8, ongoing conflict occurred in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz, and various anti-ship mines may be present in the main shipping lanes of the Strait of Hormuz. To ensure maritime safety and avoid mines, vessels should navigate according to the safety route map published by Iran until further notice.
