As temperatures rise, grey herons return to the Qianhe Mountain nature reserve in Hebei Province, north China, for breeding season.
Once numbering just eight, the grey heron population has grown to over 3,000, while more than 6,000 migratory birds now call the area home -- thanks to sustained ecological restoration efforts.
