A high-profile offer of a luxury car has sparked an unusual public exchange between Chinese philanthropist Chen Guangbiao and Zhang Xue, the founder of the eponymous brand ZX Moto.
On the second round of the 2026 FIM Supersport World Championship (WorldSSP) season, the newly established Chinese manufacturer ZX Moto had already claimed its first-ever race wins twice in a single weekend.
On Wednesday, Chen, a well-known businessman and philanthropist, posted a video on social media announcing he would gift Zhang a 2026 extended-wheelbase Rolls-Royce Phantom, valued at RMB 13 million. Chen described the vehicle as "the only one of its kind in China".
In the video, Chen praised Zhang for leading Chinese motorcycles to two consecutive WorldSSP class victories at the World Superbike Championship (WSBK) in Portugal, breaking the decades-long dominance of foreign manufacturers like Ducati and Yamaha. "You are a hero of China," Chen said, adding that the gift was "no impulsive act" but a deserved honor for someone who brought pride to the nation.
According to the mainland media, Chen initially replied to Zhang's comment, saying the gift was meant for Zhang's personal use and that selling it would "misunderstand my original intention". He deleted that comment minutes later and posted a revised statement: "If you want to sell it as a second-hand car to donate the money, that is also a good deed. I support you." He suggested they discuss the details privately.
A few minutes later, Chen Guangbiao appears to have deleted the above comment and replaced it with, "If you want to treat it as a used car and sell it on to someone else, that's fine too—I support it. We're both busy, so let's handle the details via private message. The car deal is settled; I'll await your message."
