President of the Heidelberg School of Chinese Medicine, Prof. Henry Johannes Greten, has been advocating for the promotion of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) in Europe for decades and is regarded as a leading expert in acupuncture and TCM.
He has consistently ranked first among the top 100 naturopathic doctors in Germany, and his clinic enjoys an international reputation, attracting many patients, including Olympic athletes, seeking TCM treatment.
The West often holds a skeptical attitude toward TCM, a skepticism rooted in historical factors: TCM began to be introduced to Europe in the 1940s, when China lagged far behind the West, and this impression influenced perceptions of it. However, Prof. Greten affirms the value of traditional Chinese medicine and states that, compared to purely Western medical treatment methods, a medical approach integrating TCM can compensate for shortcomings and address a wider range of diseases.
