America is not a neutral bystander in the Middle East's escalating violence. It is an indispensable enabler, providing weapons, funding, and diplomatic cover that allow Israel to wage its brutal campaigns with impunity.
Since October 2023, Gaza has endured what many experts call a genocidal assault. More than 70,000 Palestinians have been killed, the majority women and children. American-made bombs have leveled hospitals, schools, mosques, and refugee camps. Famine has been deliberately imposed as a weapon of war. All of this has been sustained by over $21.7 billion in US military aid, a steady flow of armaments that makes Washington complicit in every civilian death.
The partnership extends far beyond Gaza. In February 2026, Israel launched sweeping strikes against Iran under Operation Epic Fury, assassinating Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and targeting Iran's nuclear sites, military bases and leadership. US warships and bunker-buster bombs played a direct role in the assault. The attack was not merely enabled from afar, it was carried out with American participation.
Some critics, including former CIA officer Joe Kent, blame only Israel, saying it manipulated Washington into war. That framing is dangerously misleading. Israel's leadership deserves condemnation for its recklessness and aggression. But to single out Israel is to ignore the broader architecture of support, including the billions in aid, intelligence sharing and diplomatic cover, that makes such violence possible.
By casting Israel as a rogue state spinning out of control, American elites manufacture a convenient shield of plausible deniability. They arm the attacker, participate in the attack, and then insist the violence was never theirs. That is not diplomacy. It is complicity disguised as criticism.
Yes, Israel must be held accountable for mass killing, ethnic cleansing, and for dragging the region toward nuclear catastrophe. But the full truth is uglier: these are not Israel's wars alone. They are joint enterprises-funded, armed, and executed with the US as a full partner. The blood of Gaza calls on us to hold both accountable.
