The International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) Women's World Championship Division II Group B is being held from March 30 to April 5 in Discovery Bay, Hong Kong. Elite women's ice hockey teams from Belgium, Latvia, Mexico, New Zealand, Hong Kong, and Ukraine are competing for the championship title and promotion to Division II Group A. In the opening match last night (March 30), the women's ice hockey team from HK defeated New Zealand 3-0, claiming their first victory.
The opening ceremony of the IIHF Women's World Championship Division II Group B took place on the evening of March 30. A spectacular drone show featuring 600 drones displayed ice hockey imagery and HK-themed patterns above Discovery Bay Beach.
The ceremony at Discovery Bay Ice Rink was presided over by the President of the Hong Kong, China Ice Hockey Association, Mr. Chan Yan-wing, accompanied by board members and distinguished guests. The event officially kicked off the opening match between New Zealand and HK, attracting a large crowd of fans and local residents.
