Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a social media post on the evening of March 30 that Iran respects Saudi Arabia and regards it as a "brotherly nation," and that Iran's military actions are targeting "hostile aggressors." He added that "it is time to drive out U.S. forces."
In his post, Araghchi also stated that Iran's operations are aimed at "hostile aggressors who disrespect Arabs or Iranians and cannot provide any security guarantees—just look at what we did to their air command system." He accompanied the post with an image showing a severely damaged U.S. military aircraft.
According to Iran's Tasnim News Agency on March 29, citing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps' public relations department, a U.S. E-3 Sentry AWACS aircraft was "destroyed" during Iranian missile and drone strikes on Saudi Arabia's Prince Sultan Air Base. The strike reportedly hit a critical section near the aircraft's tail. Tasnim also released comparative images of the AWACS aircraft before and after the attack, showing a structural fracture in the mid-to-rear section of the aircraft, with the tail separated from the fuselage.
