The US Department of the Treasury announced on March 26 that, for the first time in history, the signature of a sitting president—Donald Trump—will appear on US currency.

The signature of the US Treasurer will be deleted.

Traditionally, US bills have carried only the signatures of the Treasury Secretary and the Treasurer.

According to the Treasury's statement, the redesigned bills commemorate the 250th anniversary of the US. While the names of the US Treasurer will be omitted, the overall design of the banknotes will remain unchanged.

The first batch of US$100 bills, bearing the signatures of President Trump and Treasury Secretary Bensent, will be printed in June, with other denominations to follow in the coming months. It is expected to take several weeks for the new bills to be distributed through the banking system and enter circulation.
