Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated on March 26 that Iran is committed to fully ending the war and emphasized that the country has never sought to possess nuclear weapons, according to Iran's Islamic Republic News Agency.
During a phone call with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, Pezeshkian discussed regional and international developments since the US and Israel launched attacks on Iran. The Iranian president described Iran's strikes on US military bases in the Middle East as a legitimate response to aggression and stressed that Islamic nations should not allow enemies to exploit the situation to create division and conflict in the region.
Pezeshkian emphasized that Iran has never sought nuclear weapons, a fact confirmed by multiple International Atomic Energy Agency reports. He characterized allegations of Iran's pursuit of nuclear weapons as a pretext for "illegal and inhumane aggression" against the country.
He stated Iran's commitment to fully ending the war and achieving regional security and stability, expressing hope that with the help of Islamic nations, the region can overcome the disasters enemies are attempting to create.
Prime Minister Anwar affirmed Malaysia's opposition to and condemnation of any violations of Iran's national sovereignty and territorial integrity. He expressed support for "Iran's legitimate position on the need to end the war against Islamic nations across the region and ensure no further military aggression against Iran," emphasizing that Islamic countries should continue diplomatic efforts to achieve regional stability and security.
