At approximately 1:30 p.m. on March 23, a cleaning staff member discovered a newborn baby in the women's restroom on the first floor of Lee Theatre, located on Percival Street in Causeway Bay.
The worker immediately alerted the authorities. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found the baby unconscious.
The newborn was promptly transported by ambulance to Ruttonjee Hospital for treatment, but was pronounced dead.
Police have cordoned off the area for investigation, and the case is currently being treated as a suspected child abandonment.
