Former adult film actress Mao Hamasaki, who has been actively developing her career in Hong Kong since retiring and later transitioned successfully into DJ work, announced on social media that she will receive her Hong Kong identity card in April and will officially become a Hong Kong resident — a post that sparked lively discussion.
In her online post, Hamasaki wrote, "Next month I will get my Hong Kong ID. Officially a Hong Kong resident, staying and living in Hong Kong!" She also asked followers for recommendations: "What good Hong Kong food do you suggest? What Hong Kong culture can you teach me? What fun places in Hong Kong?"
She later explained her reasons for choosing to settle in Hong Kong, noting that the city's central location in Asia makes it convenient to work in other countries, substantially shortening flight times and giving her more time to rest. Over the past two years, she said, she has spent half her time in Hong Kong and half in Japan.
Hamasaki added that she has many friends in Hong Kong and that the food is delicious. She currently lives in Yuen Long, having previously entered Hong Kong on a short-term work visa that required her to leave every three to four days. Living in Yuen Long allows her to conveniently travel via Shenzhen to renew her visa.
On several of Hamasaki's social media accounts, she frequently shares snippets of Hong Kong life, including trying local specialties, watching lion dances, and practising Cantonese.
