A delivery worker was injured in Tai Kok Tsui on March 12 after being struck by the unsecured tailgate of a passing truck.

The incident occurred at around 12:05 p.m. when the tailgate of a box truck swung open while making a left turn from Tong Mi Road onto Larch Street. The tailgate struck a man standing on the roadside, causing him to fall to the ground. The truck driver reportedly failed to notice the incident and continued driving onto Pine Street, leaving the scene.

According to eyewitness accounts, a passerby later informed the injured man, a 62-year-old surnamed Leung, of the cause of his injuries.

Police reported that at 12:21 p.m., a 50-year-old truck driver, surnamed Wong, had parked his vehicle on Larch Street, while another truck driven by Leung was parked behind it.

During the unloading process, a third truck drove east along Larch Street with its tailgate improperly secured. The tailgate first hit Wong's parked truck before striking Leung, causing injuries to Leung's leg and shoulder.

Leung declined hospital treatment. Authorities are still searching for the driver of the truck involved in the incident.
