During Two Sessions, Chak Sing Lau, Dean of the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine at the University of Hong Kong, said Hong Kong can play a bigger role in healthcare and medical development under the 15th Five-Year Plan.
He noted that the city faces constraints in land and space, while facilities and services for elderly care still have room for improvement. Lau suggested leveraging resources and capacity in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area to provide more comfortable retirement options for Hong Kong seniors, and to strengthen healthcare and elderly-care support through regional collaboration.
