Ongoing unrest in the Middle East has disrupted travel plans for Hong Kong tourists. A local travel agency has revealed that two HK tour groups, comprising over 20 travelers, are currently in Dubai.
Originally scheduled to return to HK tomorrow (March 4) and the day after (March 5), their return has been delayed due to widespread airport closures in the region. Travelers are now likely to remain stranded in Dubai.
Speaking on a radio program today (March 3), Yuen Chun-ning, CEO of the WWPKG travel agency, stated that closures of Dubai and surrounding airports have left travelers uncertain about when they can return to HK. However, Dubai authorities have permitted tour groups to continue their itineraries, allowing the two groups to proceed with sightseeing today instead of staying confined to their hotels.
Yuen also announced that the travel agency has canceled all Middle East tours until March 10. Additionally, some customers who have booked tours to the region for June and July have expressed interest in changing destinations, and the agency will make arrangements based on the evolving situation.
