Recently, an izakaya in Kagoshima Prefecture, Japan, was found to have posted a notice at its entrance stating "No entry for Chinese people." After being exposed on social media, it sparked heated discussions, with some netizens questioning whether it was discriminatory.
The establishment, named "大眾酒場 BEETLE男(ビートルマン)," printed a page from Google Translate and displayed it at the entrance, stating in simplified Chinese and Japanese, "Sorry, Chinese tourists are not allowed to enter the shop."
The post generated a lot of discussion among netizens, with some questioning whether this could lead to nationality discrimination, saying, "This is so discriminatory against Chinese people; it's truly infuriating to see!" Some threatened to leave negative reviews on Google Maps, while others suggested that the police should be notified. However, some netizens supported the restaurant's decision, believing that the establishment has the right to choose its business practices.
