According to CCTV International News, multiple U.S. states have declared states of emergency as a powerful winter storm approaches. On Feb. 22 local time, rain and snow began falling across parts of the East Coast as the intense winter storm moved in. New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, and Massachusetts have issued state emergency orders banning non-essential travel.

The U.S. National Weather Service reported that from Feb. 22 to 23, many areas could see snowfall of one to two feet (30.48 to 60.96 cm), accompanied by strong winds and possible localized flooding. Blizzard warnings have been issued for New York City, Long Island, Boston, and coastal communities in New Jersey, Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts.

According to CNN, more than 8,000 flights within, into, or out of the United States have been or will be canceled on February 22 and 23.
