Cross-departmental engagement team launched on March 2: Special team set to handle difficult problems. (DDN)

The Government announced on Feb. 21 the plan for the long-term housing arrangements for Wang Fuk Court (WFC). The plan provides various options, including the acquisition of titles from flat owners by cash, a "Flat-for-Flat" arrangement, and the reservation of flats under the Home Ownership Scheme (HOS), the Green Form Subsidised Home Ownership Scheme (GSH) and the Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS) projects for priority purchase by owners who have sold their titles. It also includes the construction of new HOS flats at Chung Nga Road West in Tai Po. The plan enables affected owners to make choices based on their circumstances and needs, assisting them in rebuilding their homes

Due to the complex terms of the plan and a large number of elderly affected residents, the Housing Bureau has organized a 100-strong inter-departmental engagement team, which will set up service counters at transitional housing and Housing Society projects for affected owners starting March 2.

In an exclusive interview with DotDotNews on Feb. 22, Housing Secretary Winnie Ho noted the team comprises staff from multiple government bureaus, tasked with answering residents' enquiries and easing the workload of the "one social worker per household" support scheme. On-site service counters will be established in densely affected areas, the Housing Authority will set up service points at regular sales venues, and a central team will handle special cases.

The engagement team will work in 3-5-member groups to assist 1,736 Wang Fuk Court households through phone or face-to-face services. Its hotline will launch on March 2 after a one-week training, and members will wear uniform light blue uniforms with ID cards to prevent fraud.

Ho also stated the sale moratorium for Wang Fuk Court has expired, and the ban will be lifted for HOS flats under the special sales scheme for affected owners. Flat-for-flat vouchers are for personal use only, and payment differences for HOS flat purchases will be settled on a "refund for excess, make-up for shortfall" basis.
