Hong Kong authorities have detained a 45-year-old man from the Chinese Mainland suspected of stealing valuables worth nearly HK$200,000 during a flight from France to HK.
The incident came to light on Feb. 11, when a male passenger reported to the Airport District Police that his carry-on baggage, stored in the overhead compartment, had been tampered with.
The victim discovered his belongings, including bank cards, jewelry worth approximately HK$150,000, and HK$43,000 in cash, were missing.
Following an initial investigation, police arrested the suspect onboard the flight. The man is currently in custody as the case remains under investigation.
