According to reports from CCTV News, as of February 5, Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications announced that the heavy snowfall since January 20 has resulted in 38 deaths nationwide.
Additionally, The Beijing News reported that on February 4, footage was released showing the moment when the roof of an arcade collapsed under the weight of accumulated snow. The incident occurred on February 2 in Niigata Prefecture, where the owner of a nearby restaurant said he heard a loud noise at the time of the collapse. Reports indicate that Niigata Prefecture has been the most severely impacted by the ongoing heavy snowfall, with snow depth reaching 255 centimeters on February 1. Aomori Prefecture has also experienced heavy snowfall, with localized snow depth reaching 183 centimeters.
