Last night (Jan. 27), around 10 pm, a 36-year-old male employee surnamed Choi from a Mahjong parlour was tasked by his company to deposit HK$100,000 in public funds at the Bank of China Mong Kok branch, located at 587-589 Nathan Road, using an ATM.
Inside the bank, Choi first deposited HK$50,000 into the company account via the ATM, and then temporarily placed the remaining HK$50,000 above the keypad of the machine as preparation. Unexpectedly, a man suddenly reached from behind and grabbed the cash, quickly fleeing towards Yau Ma Tei. Choi chased after the thief but lost him when they reached the intersection of Nathan Road and Dundas Street, and he had to report the incident to the police. The police have classified the case as "theft" and assigned it to the fourth team of the Mong Kok District Criminal InvestigationTeam, which is actively pursuing the whereabouts of the suspect involved.
