On the morning of January 26, the Chinese Association of Hong Kong and Macao Studies held a seminar in Beijing. Xia Baolong, Director of the Hong Kong and Macao Work Office of the Communist Party of China Central Committee and the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council, attended the seminar and delivered a speech, outlining expectations for the new Legislative Council members. He urged all members to fulfill their duties responsibly and to work diligently with passion and commitment, showcasing the qualities of the new Legislative Council.
Xia Baolong expressed five key expectations for the LegCo members. First, to cultivate a strong sense of national belonging; second, to dare to take responsibility; third, to be dedicated to serving the public; fourth, to actively participate in governance and political discussions; and fifth, to establish a positive image.
