The official X account of the White House posted an AI-generated image on Friday (Jan. 23), featuring US President Donald Trump walking on ice alongside a penguin holding an American flag, heading toward a Greenland flag. The image quickly sparked heated discussion online, with many pointing out a glaring geographical error: penguins do not live in the Northern Hemisphere, and there are no penguins in the Arctic.
According to US media reports, netizens took the opportunity to give the White House a geography lesson. The image, inspired by Trump's previous suggestion to acquire Greenland from Denmark, attracted criticism for its inaccuracy. In reality, all 18 species of penguins are confined to the Southern Hemisphere, primarily inhabiting Antarctic coasts and sub-Antarctic islands.
Anti-Trump account "PatriotTacs" wrote on X: "There are no penguins in Greenland. All penguins live in the southern hemisphere except one species from the Galapagos Islands. Perhaps you shouldn't have dismantled the Department of Education so quickly."
