A cold weather warning is in effect. The Hong Kong Observatory has indicated that, affected by the winter monsoon, Hong Kong experienced cold temperatures this morning (Jan. 22), with most areas falling to 12 degrees Celsius or below. Meanwhile, a broad band of clouds covers South China.
Due to the winter monsoon and the broad band of clouds, the weather along the South China coast will remain mostly cloudy and cold over the next two days. It is expected that the monsoon will be replaced by a moderate to strong easterly airflow over the weekend, leading to a gradual rise in temperatures along the Guangdong coast, although it will still feel cool in the mornings. As the easterly airflow gradually weakens from early to mid next week, the weather in Guangdong will show some improvement.
