The Hong Kong Observatory issued a special weather alert today (Jan. 20), indicating that a strong winter monsoon is gradually affecting the southern coast of China, with significant temperature drops expected in Hong Kong tonight. From Wednesday (Jan. 21) to Friday (Jan. 23), the weather will remain largely cloudy and cold, with minimum temperatures in urban areas around 11 to 12 degrees Celsius and a few degrees lower in the New Territories. Residents are advised to pay attention to the weather changes and care for the elderly and those with chronic illnesses.
Today, Hong Kong was generally cloudy with periods of sunshine during the day, reaching a maximum temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius. Moderate to fresh east winds were blowing, with strong winds offshore and in high places initially. Tonight, the wind will shift to the north, and temperatures in the urban areas will significantly drop to a minimum of around 16 degrees, with lower temperatures in the New Territories. From tomorrow to Friday, the weather will continue to be largely cloudy and cold, with minimum temperatures around 11 to 12 degrees in urban areas and a few degrees lower in the New Territories. It will still be cool in the mornings over the weekend.
