Born into a wealthy family in the small town of Voghera, south of Milan, Valentino began painting at a young age and developed a love for high fashion. He studied fashion in Milan and Paris before apprenticing in Paris. In 1959, he founded his own brand in Rome, initially renowned for his red gowns, which the industry has dubbed "Valentino Red."
