A murder case was uncovered in Ngau Tau Kok's Lok Wah South Estate on December 30, when a 35-year-old local woman surnamed Tam was tragically killed and her body hidden between the mattress and bed frame in a flat in Hei Wah House. Her non-Chinese boyfriend was arrested earlier in the Chinese Mainland and was extradited to Hong Kong on Friday (Jan. 16). The man has been charged with three offenses: murder, cruelty to animals, and theft. Today (Jan. 19), he appeared in Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts, where he did not need to enter a plea. Magistrate May Chung adjourned the case until April 13 for further police investigation, during which the defendant will remain in custody.
The 28-year-old defendant, Jason Oscar Egbe, who reported himself as unemployed and holds a Hong Kong identity card, is accused of murdering Tam Yi-man on December 29, 2025, at Room B3503, Hei Wah House, Lok Wah South Estate in Sau Mau Ping, Kowloon. He is also charged with causing unnecessary suffering to three dogs and a cat due to acts that were random or unreasonable, and stealing a silver Apple iPhone 17 Pro Max, which belongs to Tam.
The prosecution applied to adjourn the case for further police investigation and opposed the defendant's bail. The defendant did not apply for bail, claiming he was assaulted by police during a video meeting and requested to go to the hospital for treatment during the recess, asking the court to record this request.
