According to CCTV news reports, on January 12 local time, the US Department of State announced that since President Donald Trump returned to the White House last year, the federal government has revoked over 100,000 visas, setting a new record.

Current conditions indicate that the large-scale revocation of visas is part of the Trump administration's overall tightening of immigration policies. The Department of State stated that among the revoked visas are approximately 8,000 student visas and about 2,500 professional visas, which were canceled due to involvement in criminal activities. Principal Deputy Spokesperson for the Department of State Tommy Pigott indicated that the main reasons for visa revocations include overstaying, DUI, assault, and theft, with a growth of approximately 150% compared to 2024.

The Department of State has also launched a "Continuous Vetting Center" to enhance dynamic reviews of foreign individuals in the US, ensuring that visa holders comply with US laws and that visas are swiftly revoked for those identified as posing a threat to the US public.

Additionally, this year, the Department of State has instructed overseas diplomats to strengthen scrutiny of visa applicants, particularly those considered unfriendly to the US and with a background in political activities. Officials in the Trump administration previously stated that certain student visa holders and green card holders may face the risk of deportation for supporting Palestine or criticizing Israel's actions in the Israel-Palestine conflict.
