On December 15, 2025, the High Court ruled that Jimmy Lai was guilty of two counts of conspiracy to collude with foreign forces and one count of conspiracy to publish seditious publications, all of which were confirmed. The case underwent 156 days of proceedings, and the truth has become very clear. Lai's anti-China and Hong Kong actions are not isolated incidents; they have continued for decades, organized and premeditated, with particularly rampant collaboration with foreign forces.
During the trial, the prosecution played footage from a live broadcast in Taiwan on the YouTube channel, which aired on May 11, 2020. The host, Zhao Shaokang, conducted a one-hour video interview with Jimmy Lai. When asked whether he had been influenced by foreign countries or the CIA, Lai responded, "I really want the CIA, the US to influence us; I really want the UK to influence us; I really want foreign forces to influence us. Why? Their support is the only way we can hold on. We need foreign forces to help us continue."
On December 18, 2023, the trial regarding Lai's alleged violations of the Hong Kong National Security Law officially began. On July 25, 2024, the court found all evidence of the charges to be established. Lai began to testify on November 20 of the same year, which continued until March 2025. From August 18 to 28, 2025, closing arguments were heard from all parties. On December 15, 2025, the Court of First Instance convicted Jimmy Lai, confirming all charges of conspiracy to collude with foreign forces and conspiracy to publish seditious publications.
