On Friday (Jan. 2), Tesla announced its Q4 2025 vehicle production and delivery figures, showing deliveries of 418,227 vehicles and a production output of 434,358 vehicles. For the entire year of 2025, Tesla's deliveries totaled 1.636 million units, a year-on-year decline of approximately 8.6%, trailing behind BYD.
Chinese automotive manufacturer BYD recently reported nearly 2.26 million deliveries in 2025, marking a year-on-year increase of nearly 28%. Tesla's annual delivery figure was about 72.6% of the pure electric vehicle deliveries by BYD, a decrease of over 8% from the 1.79 million units in 2024. This also marks the first time Tesla has been surpassed by BYD in total annual electric vehicle sales.
BYD has seen significant growth in overseas car sales. In addition to strong performance in the European market, BYD is also actively expanding into Latin America and Southeast Asia while increasing its localized production efforts. BYD's factory in Brazil commenced production in 2025, and the company's Thailand factory not only meets local market demand but also plans to expand exports to Europe.
