The Hong Kong Observatory announced today (Dec. 29) that a cold front is expected to reach the southern coast of China later on New Year's Day. Influenced by the following winter monsoon, the north winds in the region will strengthen, leading to a significant drop in temperatures on the day after New Year's and over the weekend, with colder weather and gradually improving conditions.
Due to the ongoing impact of the monsoon, it will be clear and dry at the beginning of next week, but still quite cool in the mornings. Tomorrow morning (Dec. 30) is expected to remain cool, with warm and dry conditions during the day. There will be brief periods of sunshine on New Year's Eve, while New Year's Day will be mostly cloudy. In the evening, the north winds will strengthen, and temperatures will begin to drop significantly. Friday and Saturday (January 2 and 3) will see cold weather, with minimum temperatures around 11 to 12 degrees Celsius.
