On the streets and campuses of China, AI tools are increasingly becoming a part of many foreigners' daily lives. We randomly interviewed several users from different countries to hear their thoughts on using Chinese AI.
DeepSeek and Doubao were the two most frequently mentioned tools by the interviewees. Many use them for tasks such as information searching, translation, image generation, or sparking creativity.
Some praised DeepSeek's search capabilities as being "even stronger than Google," while others expressed admiration for the rapid development of Chinese AI technology. Many were especially impressed by the fact that these tools are free, exclaiming: "It's good, super good!"
The interviewees also shared their expectations for the future of Chinese AI: they hope for the introduction of more native-language versions, enhanced multilingual translation capabilities, improved math and logical reasoning performance, and continued access to vast and accurate information.
Although each person's usage scenario is different, most interviewees agreed that these tools not only bridge language barriers but also serve as "digital companions" that help them integrate into local life.
