The Hong Kong segment of the 12th National Games for Persons with Disabilities (NGD) and the 9th National Special Olympics Games (NSOG) concluded successfully on Dec. 15. Hong Kong athletes achieved a historic medal tally of 140, including 51 gold, 49 silver, and 40 bronze—the delegation's best performance to date.
Events such as Boccia, Wheelchair Fencing, and Table Tennis were held across multiple venues in Hong Kong, all equipped with full accessibility features. Public interest was high, with tickets for popular events nearly sold out.
A volunteer team of over 16,000, including around 4,000 dedicated to the Games, provided extensive support. The event not only highlighted the abilities of athletes with disabilities but also strengthened sports collaboration within the Greater Bay Area.
